Statement of Faith

The Scriptures, in their original writings, are the verbal, plenary inspired Word of God, without error, infallible, and the complete revelation of His will and the final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

There is only one true God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and characteristics of personality.

Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh by being conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is perfect Deity and true humanity united in one person forever.

GCL Statement of Faith

Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. Jesus arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession.

In Adam, man was created in the image of God, but by voluntary transgression fell; making all men sinners, not only by nature, but by choice; therefore all are under just condemnation. In this depraved condition, man is unable to restore himself and please God.

The salvation of man is wholly a work of God’s free grace and not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justifies them in His sight.

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, sanctifies, guides, teaches, and empowers the believer. Baptism by water is an outward testimony of a regenerate life and identification with Christ.

To receive the free gift of salvation and eternal life, sinners must be “born again” by believing, by faith, in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. This is accomplished solely by the grace of God and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Once joined to Jesus Christ, the believer can have the assurance of never being separated from “the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Church is composed of all those, living and dead, who truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and are united together in the Body of Jesus Christ, of which He is the Head.

At physical death, the believer in Christ enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord, and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting glory. The unbeliever enters immediately into conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting condemnation. Jesus Christ will return to the earth personally, bodily, and visibly.
